CURRENT INFO Winter hut access from the Piz Corvatsch summit cableway station to Coaz hut 18.02.2025
The first passage is continuously secured with a fixed rope in the upper flat part, but is heavily exposed in the lower part. There is more and more rock and ice. Unless there is still snow, this passage becomes increasingly rocky and icy, so that a rope belay may be necessary. From the steel carabiners of the fixed rope it is 15-20m to below the rocks (30m rope just enough), but two 30m ropes reach well below the rocks.
The second passage crosses the ridge further east than marked on the ski tour map and about the same distance west of point 3099 (picture from the opposite side marked with arrows). The crossing can be difficult to find in fog. The position points on SWISS TOPO are at the foot of the passage descending to the west. From the marking (pole and old sign) on the small pass, the ledge descends diagonally southwest (continuous rope protection), the lowest approx. 20m are steep to vertical. In the lowest part, the descent becomes increasingly brittle and rocky and a replacement rope/extension has been installed for the lowest meters. It is possible to belay to the existing anchors in this area.
